About / Bio
Dr. Kim Beerden (Amsterdam) read Classical Studies at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne (UK) after which she completed her MPhil History at the University of Leiden, specializing in Ancient History (cum laude). She then continued her research into ancient divination, resulting in her book Worlds full of signs: ancient Greek divination in context (Brill: Leiden 2013) Kim is now employed as a lecturer at Leiden University. Her research continues to investigate how Greeks and Romans thought about, analyzed, and manipulated potential futures. The topics of decision making and alternatives to risk assessment are central to this research.
